SCHWEPPES

In the late 18th century, Johann Jacob Schweppe developed a process for producing carbonated mineral water based on the discoveries of Joseph Priestley. In 1783, Schweppe founded a company in Geneva to sell carbonated drinks, which he called "Schweppes". In 1792, Schweppe moved to London to promote the company's business. In 1836, Queen Victoria granted the company the title of "Official Supplier to the Royal Household". In 1843, Schweppes began marketing Malvern Spring Water produced in the Malvern Hills. In 1969, Schweppes merged with the Cadbury Company and was called Cadbury Schweppes. In the following years, the company acquired many brands, and in 2008 the company was split, with the US drinks division becoming the Dr Pepper Snapple Group and separated from its global business. Dr. Pepper Snapple is the current owner of the Schweppes trademark. The drink first arrived in Israel in 1967, and was the first international brand to successfully enter the Israeli market.
