In the late 18th century, Johan Yakov Schop developed a process for producing carbonated mineral water based on Joseph Priestley's discoveries. In 1783, Schoppe in Geneva established a carbonated beverage sales company, which he called "Schoffs." In 1792, Swap moved to London to promote the business of the company. In 1836, Queen Victoria awarded the company the title of "Official Supplier of the Royal House". In 1843, Schoeps began marketing the water from the Malvern Springs produced in the Malvern Hills. In 1969, Schwaps merged with the Cadbury Company and was named Cadbury Schwaps. In the following years, the company acquired many brands, and in 2008 the company split, with the US liquor division becoming Dr. Pepper Snapple's group and separated from its global business. Dr. Pepper Snapple is the current owner of the Sheps trademark. Israel first came to Israel in 1967, and was the first international brand to succeed in the Israeli market.
