The history of the "Taliani Valley" begins in the 19th century, when the brother of the Russian emperor, Mikhail Romanov, ordered the construction of a wine cellar in the premises of the old wine cellar of the winemaker Alexander Chevchavadze. 1880 - Bordeaux winemaker Antoine Mussano was invited to the wine cellar. Mussano stayed in Georgia for 9 years and was the first winemaker to begin experimenting with a mixture of Georgian grape varieties and European winemaking techniques, and vice versa. He initiated the cultivation of many French grape varieties in Georgia. 1893 - Of the new varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the Talani Valley proved to be particularly successful. Mussano made a new wine called "Taliani" and sent the first bottle to the emperor. It was written: "Cabernet Sauvignon from the Talani Valley, 1893, Antoine Mussano." 1900 - The wine was highly praised. Thus, a tiny plot of land in Kakheti became famous for "Telani" and Mosano. In the old wine cellar of Tsinandeli you can still find "Telani" wine from different vintages, along with other French-Georgian wines and cognacs. 1997 - Today, the estates of Alexander Chavchavadze own the vineyards of the Telani Valley. And preserve excellent traditions and offer wines made from ancient grape varieties, according to both traditional and Georgian-European techniques.
