Shieldage is a young single malt with no age statement and is rough and slightly smoky in the style of some Highland distilleries. In the nose the smoke is very present, peated in a vegetal and wet style, and there is also the sweetness of caramel and cinnamon. On the palate the smoke is much calmer, and the caramel and cinnamon are more present while the peat seems to remain in the background, surrounding them with its vegetation.
Taking its name from the Old Norse, SHIELDAIG, 'LOCH OF THE HERRING', is truly a wild and beautiful place. The sharp aroma of pine-studded islands. The flash of the silver herring in the dark waters of the loch. The mist veils around the shoulders of the nearby Torridon Hills.
Raise a glass of SHIELDAIG and experience a reflection of this epic landscape in the complex yet balanced flavors of this fine single malt whisky.
